Our Tours

We offer the following adventures...

Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve

The town of Cabuya is the gateway to Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve, Costa Rica’s first nature resesrve. Our tour guides grew up in Cabuya and know the park like the back of their hand.

We’ll take you on a tour of this beautiful reserve and help you identify a variety of wildlife and fauna. We’ll explain the amazing symbiosis between the different insects, animals and plants. We guarantee that you’ll see far more animals when you walk with us than if you take a self guided tour.

Our tour departs from the park entrance in Cabuya.  From there we will take you on an educational walking tour of the reserve where you can expect to see a wide variety of flora and fauna. The 1.5 hr hike leads to Playa Los Suecos in the park where you can refresh in the ocean. With over 140 identified varieties of trees and a wealth of marine birds, monkeys and deer, it’s a wonderful day for any nature or photography enthusiast.

The tour last on average 4 hrs.

Cabuya Island

Situated just 7km from Montezuma, this interesting island is locally renowned for it’s turquoise waters, abundant sea life and green iguana nesting grounds.

This island is accessible by foot at low tide and has been a burial ground since pre-Columbian times. It is the only operating cemetery island in the country. The shallow reef that surrounds the island offers some of the best snorkeling in the area and views of Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve.

Walk with us to the island at low tide and learn how to catch your own dinner “Tico” style with a traditional hand line, fishing rod or spear gun. Snorkel the warm waters to see coral sea turtles, sting-rays, octopus, and much more tropical marine life. With over 10 years of free diving and spear fishing experience, your guide will teach you how to use a spear gun, identify the different species of fish and prepare fresh oysters and abalone for a mid tour snack.

Remember, there is more than one island to discover in the area!

Inshore Fishing

Want to feel the energy of a sport fish in the palm of your hands? Want to battle with a 20kg Mahi Mahi on a handline? We offer affordable fishing tours for people who want to experience fishing “Tico” style.

Fish the waters off the pacific coast of Costa Rica in a traditional fishing boat, locally known as a “panga”. Our bilingual tour guides have over 10 years of experience fishing in the area and know the best fishing areas off the coast of Montezuma. The only fish finders we use are in the minds of our guides!

Costa Rica offers some of the best sports fishing in the world. Depending on the time of year you can expect to catch Mahi mahi, Rooster fish, Red Snapper, Black Snapper… We will provide the bait, the gear, the knowledge and will prepare the catch for cooking, so it’s ready to put on the grill when you get home.

Discover Cabuya Island overwater and underwater with a kayak and snorkeling tour. Known for its clear calm waters and beautiful secret beach, Cabuya Island is one of the best places to snorkel in the area. Far from the tours that target Tortuga island, Cabuya Island offers a serene and tranquil place to enjoy the natural beauty of Costa Rica.

Choose from a single or double kayak and paddle on to the turquoise waters of the Pacific ocean, throw on your snorkeling gear and delight in the beauty of the sea life below.

Later paddle to the island and explore the cemetery and relax on the deserted beach. Enjoy some fresh coconut water and fruit snacks while learning about the history of the island from our local guide.

We offer private and group surf lessons for surfers of all ages and experience levels, from beginners to experts. We will bring you to the appropriate breaks for your level of expertise and provide you with quality surfboards and instruction.

Our instructors are experienced surfers and life-long residents of the area. They grew up on these waves and have intimate knowledge of the currents and surf breaks. Along with teaching you the fundamentals of surfing; paddling, popping up, duck diving, and angling down the wave face, our guides will teach you how to read the waves so you know exactly where you need to be to catch a wave.

We guarantee you’ll be standing after just two lessons!

Horseback Riding

We offer horse riding tours for novices and experts. The rides can depart at any time to suit your schedule, although we recommend morning or afternoon tours due to the high midday temperatures.

Take in all the beautiful sites along the 7km coast from Montezuma to Cabuya. Stop at Rio Cedros to freshen up in the fresh water or swim in the deep crystal clear pools of Rio Lajos. Stop to take photos of the landmark centennial Ficus tree which was awarded the “Exceptional Tree of the Year Award” for 2009 by the Instituto Nacional de Biodiversidad (INBio).

End your journey with a delicious coffee and pastry at the Panaderia when you arrive in Cabuya. The tour averages three hours, depending on how quickly the group wants to ride.
